If you don’t have an Espresso Machine, I teach how to make an amazing latte without an espresso machine as well.

What is a latte?

A latte is essentially steamed milk blended with hot espresso and crowned with foamed milk. As simple as that.

In certain coffee places like Starbucks, you might encounter a latte referred to as a cafe latte. These terms are interchangeable – they’re one and the same!

Latte vs Capuccino

A latte and cappuccino, both espresso-based drinks, differ in their milk-to-espresso ratios.

The latte has more steamed milk, resulting in a creamier texture.

Cappuccino boasts equal parts espresso, steamed milk, and frothed milk. Lovers of velvety sips gravitate towards lattes, while those seeking a bolder, foamier experience opt for cappuccinos.

What Kind Of Milk Should You Use For A Latte?

Choosing the right milk is crucial for crafting the perfect latte.

  • Whole milk is a classic choice, delivering a rich and creamy texture that complements the boldness of espresso.
  • For a lighter option, skim or low-fat milk can be used, offering a latte with fewer calories but a slightly less indulgent feel.
  • Those preferring a dairy-free alternative can turn to almond, soy, or oat milk, each bringing its unique flavor profile to the mix.

Ultimately, the choice of milk depends on personal preference, dietary considerations, and the desired balance of richness in your homemade latte. Experiment and find your ideal match!
