What is Italian Salsa?
Salsa, or sugo, in Italian literally means ‘sauce’. It’s a salad prepared mainly with tomato, herbs, an acid component and an oil. The list of ingredients may differ depending on the location, but essentially, resembles a lot like the Mexican version of salsa.
What is the best tomato to make salsa?
The best tomatoes to make sala are Roma and Jubilee.
They are firm, tasty, juicy and has a succulent flesh that holds its shape when cut in cubes, perfect for salsas and salads. But of course, any tomatoes would work, including cherry and grapes.
Do you need to peel tomatoes for salsa?
You do not need to peel tomatoes to make salsa, however, some type of tomatoes have firm skin that might hard to eat if uncooked. It’s recommended to peel in this case.
The easier way to peel tomatoes is cutting a X just to rip the skin on the bottom of the tomatoes with a sharp knife, then boiling them for 1 minute. The skin will peel much easier with this process.
